The company bears the name of its founder and current proprietor. Self-taught, he opened his first repair shop in 1983, in the Tuscan town of Greve in Chianti
He then transferred the shop to Florence in 1987 and developed, with the help of a master craftsman, his expertise in the manufacture of custom-made shoes, completing his training with a course in design and footwear modelling. “Learning from mistakes” is the philosophy which shaped the fi rst years of activity, and gradually the shop grew into a thriving business while maintaining the high quality and exclusive workmanship of the craft.
The name Stefano Bemer is recognised as one of the 5 main shoemakers in Europe for the quality and expertise in the manufacture of “real” made-to-measure shoes.
For many years, the company’s expertise in the manufacture of custom-made shoes
(the most complete in the sector) was placed at the disposal of companies
in the fashion industry.
The Prêt-à-porter line was launched in 2000 at the opening of the fi rst own-label store in Japan where it achieved notable success, not only in sales but also from the critics.
So much so, that in 2004, following in the wake of the success of Stefano Bemer,
a second Bemer line was born - a mediumto high sector Prêt-à-porter collection - aimed
at a wider retail market, not only Japan but also the United States, Europe and Russia.
