Shark, swordfi sh, elephant, hippopotamus, crocodile, sting-ray and perch are used, as well as other materials. Even Russian reindeer, but not just any one: a Russian reindeer dating from 1786, whose hide was recovered from a sailing ship which sank off the coast of Plymouth and was preserved using tanning methods of the period. For customers who prefer classic materials, there is also suede (British) or calfskin (from France where the hides are better due to the farming methods on the other side of the Alps).

There is also a choice of over 40 basic styles, each of which comes in three, four or more versions.

In any case, the first rule of a good craftsman is to use exclusively skins whose sale is allowed, and which come
from places where the animal died from natural causes or was culled to reduce the numbers
(such as in African nature reserves).
Only materials of excellent quality are used, such as the leather bought from tanneries which still use processes identical to those used a century ago. The leather is worked at the shop using methods which only a craftsman can use, taking the all time he needs.

The leather is soaked in water for 12 hours, then allowed to dry and rest, wrapped in paper, and beaten with a hammer on stone. This renders the leather resistant and pliable over time - attributes which are indispensable for longevity and comfort.

The sewing thread used for the welt and the sole are made in the shop using an ancient technique of twisting linen thread with pitch and pure beeswax. Very fi ne stitching awls bind the shoes together with thousands of minuscule stitches. The little glue which is used is completely vegetable-based. In fact, it is used by the pastrymaking industry in the production of desserts.
Even the shank which supports the foot arch is made of wood. Together all these elements give the product an unparalleled lightness compared to other similar products.
